Francis Lawrence Directing a Futuristic 'Sgt. Rock'

Twenty years in the making, the feature film adaptation of DC Comics' superhero saga 'Sgt. Rock' is finally making its way to the big screen -- with a couple of twists.

'I Am Legend' director Francis Lawrence has signed on to direct for Warner Bros., collaborating with screenwriter newcomer Chad St. John to update the arcane World War II-era setting into the future.

Will Smith and Steven Spielberg's 'Oldboy' Remake Reportedly Dead

Fans of Park Chan-Wook's 2003 Korean film 'Oldboy' are likely rejoicing this morning at the news that Will Smith and Steven Spielberg's remake of the film is reportedly dead. According to Latino Review, Mandate and Dreamworks were in the process of securing story rights when Dreamworks "apparently walked away." The report stated the two production companies "didn't see eye to eye."

Cecile De France Joins Matt Damon in 'Hereafter': Is She the Next Big European Import?

Unless you've seen the bloody French thriller 'High Tension,' you probably won't know the name Cecile de France.

Prepare to see her hailed as the next great European import with the news in Variety that she'll be starring opposite Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood's supernatural drama 'Hereafter.' (We won't count her appearance in the flop 'Around the World in 80 Days' as her big American breakthrough.)

'Brothers' Movie Trailer: Gyllenhaal, Maguire Duke It Out for Portman

Jim Sheridan's 'Brothers,' based on Susan Beir's 2004 Danish-language film, is the latest victim to Hollywood's current trend of plucking the rights to well-regarded foreign flicks and making them their own. (The 'Let the Right One In' remake is, sadly, shooting in New Mexico at this very moment.)

The new trailer showcases a weepy Natalie Portman mourning the death of her recently "killed in combat" husband, played by Tobey Maguire. Jake Gyleenhall stars as Maguire's brother, who comforts Portman ... that is, until Maguire makes a miraculous return. Watch the trailer after the jump.

'Mad Men''s Matthew Weiner Reunites Jennifer Aniston & Bradley Cooper

Matthew WeinerLooks like Jennifer Aniston and Bradley Cooper will be getting together again -- on-screen, with 'Mad Men' creator Matthew Weiner playing Cupid.

Variety reports that Weiner plans to make his movie directing debut with romantic comedy 'You Are Here'. The film would star Aniston and Cooper (who were reportedly dating for about 47 minutes this summer), as well as Cooper's 'The Hangover' costar, Zach Galifianakis.

Introducing... The World's Longest Film

People sleeping in cinemaCall yourself a film fan? Try sitting through Cinematon, the world's longest film. It's taken 30 years to make and is an astounding 150 hours long.

Soon to be screened in France, the film - which Gerard Courant started making in 1978 - comprises a collection of three and a half minute segments of footage from celebrities, artists, philosophers and journalists. Hardly a continuous storyline, so don't worry about needing to pop out to the loo or refilling your popcorn.
