New on DVD: Week of February 24

    'Sex Drive'
What It's About: An 18-year-old virgin (Josh Zuckerman) steals his older bro's (James Marsden) '69 GTO to drive cross-country for a rendezvous with his Internet girlfriend ... who he's praying is not a dude.

It's Kind of Like: 'American Pie' with donut suits

Critical Consensus: As far as sex-filled road-trip romps go, 'Sex Drive' scored decidedly modest ratings from reviewers, earning a 46 percent approval rating on RottenTomatoes, and multiple comparisons to 'Pie,' 'Superbad' and 'Road Trip.'

Special Features? The Unrated (and Cream-filled?!) two-disc special edition promises to be "Ruder. Cruder. Nuder." Which is of course how we prefer all special editions ('Grumpy Old Men' the rare exception).

    'What Just Happened'
What It's About: A hot shot Hollywood producer (Robert De Niro) nearing crisis deals with a director as psychotic as he is Cockney, a second ex-wife (Robin Wright) he desperately wants back, and Bruce Willis' awful new beard, which threatens to shut down production on his new movie.

It's Kind of Like: 'Entourage' for Baby Boomers

What We Say: Critics complained this satire would be too Inside Hollywood for general audiences, which is probably why it bombed with a measly $1 million gross. But the bottom line is there are plenty of laughs, and while it's not 'The Player,' it's 'Lawrence of Arabia' compared to De Niro's other '08 flick, 'Righteous Kill.'

    'Dear Zachary'
What It's About: After his close friend Andrew is murdered, documentarian Kurt Kuenne sets out to make a film about Andrew's life for his son Zachary. But a shocking turn of events transforms the intended tribute into something far different.

What We Say: This is a tiny, highly personal doc in the same vein as 'Capturing the Friedmans' that got next-to-no attention during its ultra-limited theatrical release, despite a nearly unanimous chorus of critics labeling it a must-see. We can only hope it finds an audience on DVD: It's one of the most devastatingly powerful and affecting documentaries ever made.

Where It Ranks: 'Zachary' placed #30 on our list 2008's 50 best movies (can someone say Oscar snub?).
