New on DVD: Week of March 3

    'Beverly Hills Chihuahua'
What It's About: A pampered Cali pup (voiced by Drew Barrymore) gets lost in Mexico. We spend next 80 minutes laughing at small dogs with Mexican accents.

It's Kind of Like: A 'Yo quiero Taco Bell' commercial meets 'The Hills'

Box Office Mojo: Despite the fact that 'Chihuahua' became a punch line in the weeks leading up to its release, it grossed a staggering $94 million in theaters. Expect a sequel ('Malibu Wiener Dog'?) to come.

Special Features? The DVD includes a featurette on chihuahuas, deleted scenes and a "blooper scooper," which, given the number of live animals on set, isn't nearly as gross as it sounds.

    'Australia'
What It's About: After the death of her husband, a London aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) claims their land Down Under, where she falls for a studly and mysterious drover who goes by the name "Drover" (Hugh Jackman).

It's Kind of Like: 'Gone With the Wind' meets 'Crocodile Dundee'

What We Say: This almost-three-hour epic romance-western-drama-comedy-adventure-war movie aspires to be everything at once and winds up not much at all. You'll be begging it to end at the one-hour-mark. (For die-hard Hugh fans, just re-watch the Oscars.)

    'I've Loved You So Long'
What It's About: When the long-missing and mysterious Juliette (Kristin Scott Thomas) says at a dinner party she's been in prison the last 15 years for murder, people may laugh, but she ain't kidding. Her sister helps welcome her back into society.

It's Kind of Like: 'Rachel Getting Married' in French

Critical Consensus: Reviewers loved it so long, with the film scoring a 90 percent approval rating on RottenTomatoes.

Awards & Nominations: Nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress – Drama, the excellent-in-any-language Thomas was a longshot contender for a second Oscar nom (after 'The English Patient'), but was likely edged out by Melissa Leo.
