    'Full House' Movie Dream Casting

Thought the well of good original movie ideas had run dry? Think again. John Stamos tells the New York Daily News that he's conceptualizing a movie based on the '80s/'90s sitcom 'Full House' that wouldn't star the original cast. "I'm working on a movie idea, but it wouldn't be us playing us," Stamos revealed. "I'm not 100% sure, but it would probably take place in the first few years [covered in the series, which ran from 1987-95]."

OK, so this doesn't exactly qualify as an "original" idea -- and whether it's a "good" one is, at the very least, suspect -- but it did get us thinking. Say some movie studio does have cojones gargantuan enough to greenlight an Olsen-twins-and-Stamos-free 'Full House' movie: Who would we want to see play Uncle Jesse, Danny, Joey, D.J. and the gang? Stamos already has his picks -- he wants James Franco to step into Uncle Jesse's shoes, while he envisions Steve Carell as Bob Saget's Danny and Tracy Morgan as Dave Coulier's Joey. Below, we offer our picks for who should reside in the new cinematic 'Full House.' In the meantime, we believe the words you're looking for are, "Have mercy!" -- By Tom DiChiara

Jesse Katsopolis: Stamos wants James Franco to take over for him as hip rock musician Uncle Jesse, but for our money there's nobody better equipped than Zac Efron. Zac's got that cooler-than-thou vibe down pat, and with his hair at its current length all he'd have to do is trim a couple inches off the front to rock Jesse's signature mullet.

'Full House' Cast: Where Are They Now?

Danny Tanner: Here we totally agree with Stamos: Steve Carell is the perfect blend of hilarious and anal to make a stellar Danny Tanner, an uptight, neat-freak father who asks his brother-in-law Jesse and best pal Joey to help him raise his three daughters after his wife dies in a car accident (wow, we totally forgot this sitcom was so heavy).

Joey Gladstone: Tracy Morgan as Danny's stand-up comic pal Uncle Joey? Cut. It. Out. He'd be awesome -- but, that said, we're kind of high on newly minted box-office star Zach Galifianakis, currently cracking up audiences in 'The Hangover.'

D.J. Tanner: Should the movie cast the three daughters at their ages from the show's beginning, Miley Cyrus would be a bit long in the tooth to play pretty, peppy eldest sister D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), who was 12 at the series' outset. But otherwise, pretty, peppy Miley owns the role.

Stephanie Tanner: Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) is definitely her father's daughter -- intelligent, well-spoken and so uptight that if you fed her a piece of coal in a week you'd find a diamond in the toilet. As such, Elle Fanning, who brilliantly portrayed such a character in 'Phoebe in Wonderland,' tops our wish list.

Michelle Tanner: With a lack of big-name twin toddler superstars, we're going to refrain from anointing replacements for Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, whose turn as "You're in big trouble, mister"-uttering Michelle helped them fashion a teen empire. Perhaps filmmakers can use digital technology to 'Benjamin Button' Mary-Kate and Ashley's faces onto a couple of kids?

Do you agree with our picks? And who should play Jesse's wife Becky and the immortal Kimmy Gibler in a 'Full House' movie? Tell us in the comments section below.
