Porky's': Where Are They Now?
For years, Howard Stern has talked up a remake of the original crude teen flick, 'Porky's' (1982). Now, the redo is a go, slated for a 2011 release with Savage Steve Holland tapped for the script.
Besides being the granddaddy of teen-raunch humor, 'Porky's' remains Canada's top-grossing film (taking inflation into account -- and who doesn't?). It was shot in Florida, directed by an American ... and financed by a Canadian production company. A number of actors from both sides of the border used the film as a launching pad. Let's see where they landed. -- By Ryan McKee

Dan Monahan
Played: Pee Wee
Then: A child actor, Monahan started with small parts in 'Eight Is Enough,' 'How the West Was Won' and ABC Afterschool Specials. His big break came as the super horny, socially awkward teen who wore a condom to a date. Edward "Pee Wee" Morris became Monahan's most famous role.

Dan Monahan
Played: Pee Wee
Now: He reprised Pee Wee in 'Porky's II: The Next Day' and 'Porky's 3: Revenge.' Never recapturing his 'Porky's' fame, Monahan had small roles in 'The Night Flier,' 'Baby Geniuses' and 'Romeo and Juliet' -- not the Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes remake, the 2000 straight-to-video version.

Boyd Gaines
Played: Coach Brackett
Then: Playing a student in the film 'Fame,' Gaines graduated to PE Coach in 'Porky's.' During the film, he becomes obsessed with Kim Cattrall's character and cannot figure out why she's known as Lassie. He finds out when they get intimate (and loses his job for his troubles). At least it allows him to cast off his teacher hat and join the crew as they destroy Porky's bar. During the movie's filming, Gaines also taped 'One Day at a Time,' where he played dentist Mark Royer for four seasons.

Boyd Gaines
Played: Coach Brackett
Now: The Georgia native has continued working in film and television, but really found his calling on Broadway. Since the late '80s, his stage roles have included parts in such plays as 'She Loves Me,' 'Cabaret,' 'Anything Goes,' 'Twelve Angry Men,' 'Pygmalion' and most recently 'Gypsy.' He has received four Tony Awards for his work. To round out his resume, Gaines also voices numerous audiobooks. When asked which medium he prefers, the actor quipped, "I just like to work." Touche.

Kim Cattrall
Played: Honeywell
Then: The future Samantha Jones of 'Sex and the City,' Cattrall hinted at her TV future as oversexed cheerleading coach Ms. Honeywell. Coach Brackett can't figure out why she's known as Lassie until he gets her up to the boy's locker room. Overcome by the smells of men, she attacks him and howls during their lovemaking. When she took the role, the English-Canadian already had a long list of day-player parts on such shows as 'Starsky & Hutch,' 'The Incredible Hulk' and 'Charlie's Angels.'

Kim Cattrall
Played: Honeywell
Now: Cheesy '80s comedies were good to Cattrall. She was a bombshell cadet in 'Police Academy,' Kurt Russell's love interest in 'Big Trouble in Little China' and the title role in 'Mannequin.' 'SATC' saved her from becoming just a memory, reinventing her as the ultimate cougar. Currently she's set to star in another 'SATC' movie and her own HBO series called 'Sensitive Skin,' about a middle-aged mother in New York who rediscovers her sexuality. That's incredible range, Cattrall.

Bob Clark
Writer/Director
Then: The New Orleans native turned down offers to play pro football in favor of completing a drama degree at the University of Miami. At first it seemed Clark would find notoriety in horror. He directed the low-budget cult films 'Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things,' 'Dead of Night' and 'Black Christmas.' The latter film was shot in Canada and set the stage for 'Porky's' -- that's where he found the company to finance his adolescent raunch-fest.

Bob Clark
Writer/Director
Now: Clark's career is noted for its peculiar, strangely endearing variety of successes and low points. While he directed a number of successful films in diverse genres, including the holiday classic 'A Christmas Story,' he also helmed head-scratchers like 'Rhinestone,' 'The Karate Dog' 'Baby Geniuses' and its sequel. Sadly, Clark and his 22-year-old son were killed in a head-on collision with an intoxicated driver on the Pacific Coast Highway in 2007. Longtime collaborator Deren Abram produced and directed a documentary about his life entitled 'ClarkWorld.'

Art Hindle
Played: Ted Jarvis
Then: The Halifax native became a stockbroker by his 21st birthday. He changed his career path when he began acting in Toronto Workshop Productions, eventually moving his wife and four kids to Hollywood where he began working on shows like 'Starsky & Hutch' and 'Baretta.' As the local police officer Ted Jarvis in 'Porky's,' he stands up for his younger bro Mickey by helping the gang take down Porky and the corrupt sheriff.

Sorry moviephone, but Cherri Forever was not talking about Meat when she said, "That guys deformed." She was talking about the kid next to him who had been "scrwin' around corners."
Rick72 at 9:20PM on Jun 17th 2009
No biohzrd your wrong. Go watch the movie again
pbyr at 11:03PM on Jun 17th 2009
It was Wendy who said this to Meat, Cherry said the line about around corners to another one of the guys.
Tune at 4:46PM on Jun 21st 2009
yes, she is talking about meat. i have the movie and just watched that part. better turn it on and pay attention before making inaccurate comments.
Steve at 8:35PM on Jun 17th 2009
Movie fone was right about the meat comment, they were wrong about the picture showing Wendy, that is not Wendy..
GM at 10:45PM on Jun 17th 2009
You are right on! That picture is NOT Wendy!
GM at 5:07PM on Jun 21st 2009

First off it's Dan Monahan, not Ben. AOL makes a lot of errors, apparently they're not much on accuracy.
Anyway, Porky's is awesome, always has been, always will be. A lot of people may see it as "toilet humor", and it may very well be but that movie is comedy gold and is timeless.
Especially the scene after the "beaver shoot" and Ballbricker is in the principal's office and she's calling for a penis line-up and the principal and gym teachers are all cracking up at her, then they do a close up of Eisenhower smiling, that's just funny right there.
Ultimately though the lesson (and yes Porky's has a lesson) is that true friends are invaluable and being able to share experiences with them and be there for each other no matter what is a great gift in life.
P.S.- Frank was the one that Cherry Forever said "That thing's crooked Frankie, you been screwin' around corners or somethin?"

Okay - I'd like to see a current picture of Wayne Maunder. He played one of the boy's drunken dad.
ME at 10:03PM on Jun 17th 2009
ok - so here's one for the records. I was an extra in the movie. In fact, while shooting at the Hollywood beach where the Florida Bible College used to be, I got promoted to a "special" extra. I was a car hop and "Mickey" steals a soda off my tray. My 15 minutes was more like 15 seconds ... lol! But I did do something I'll never forget - I lost my virginity to Ceril O'Reilly .. and that was 15 second too. Oh well! Great movie though and great memories. What fun the '80's were.
Angie Argabrite at 10:53PM on Jun 17th 2009
thanks for letting us know that we had the wrong photo for wendy! it's fixed now.
Pete at 11:08PM on Jun 17th 2009
So, are you telling us you had two bit parts?
georgiapeachdlb at 11:19PM on Jun 17th 2009
"Cherry Forever" was talking about "Meat" when she was talking about "that guy being deformed"- because he was supposedly "so big"- dont you remember Wendy asking "Meat" why they call him "Meat" in the school yard! "Cherry" and the Sheriff (Porkey's Brother) were married in real life and later played the adoptive parent of "Webster" on the TV show Webster!
PeeWee real name is Dan Monahan.
The movie was unforgettabe-not to mention the fact I had to sneak behind my parents back to watch it!

biohzrd77: You are wrong, Wendy never made a remark about Meat, she had a girl go up and ask why they called him Meat. Cherry, after looking at Meat, she said to Billy and Tommy that he really was deformed, insinuating that they had told her that.

Reading into it all, there are remakes not only for Porky's, but also Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure AND Rock n' Roll High School??? Is Hollywood THAT out of ideas?? I'm disgusted. Absolutely disgusted. What's next? The Warriors? Oops. Shouldnta said that. That'll probably be next now. It's a wonder I haven't been to the movies in years.
Joseph at 9:22PM on Jul 25th 2009
The problem with remakes is always the script and the cast. I think a better way to bring
back beloved characters is to make a film putting these characters in a new situation such
as the recent Star Trek film. If all Hollywood is going to do is make a new Bill and Ted with
new stars in the same script then NO WAY! If however you cast 2 very good comics in a
new story, say after the last film left off , then maybe. I think the biggest problem would be
who plays the part George Carlin played, cast wrong the film fails right there.
Laun at 12:10AM on Jun 18th 2009
boys will be boys.
G Allen at 12:57PM on Jun 18th 2009
Art Hindle has definitely aged well.
Lisa at 2:17AM on Jun 18th 2009
His name is Dan Monahan not Ben!!!! I was an extra in a movie he was in named "FROM THE HIP" in Wilmington NC.
Rachel at 2:34AM on Jun 18th 2009
