'An American Werewolf in London' Remake Is in the Works & More Movie News

'An American Werewolf in London' is set to become the latest in a long line of horror classics to get the remake treatment. Dimension films has acquired redo rights to the flick from John Landis, who wrote and directed the 1981 original about an American college student who goes on a blood-lustful rampage after surviving a werewolf attack on the moors of Yorkshire. [Bloody Disgusting] | [Variety]

Amy Adams is climbing into the ring with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale for 'The Fighter.' She'll play the gritty bartender girlfriend to real-life Boston boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward (Wahlberg), who makes a run at the lightweight championship with the help of his half-bro (Bale). [The Hollywood Reporter] [Variety]

Guy Pearce is set to romance Katie Holmes in 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.' Based on a 1973 TV movie, the flick follows a young girl (Bailee Madison) who moves in with her dad (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes) and discovers they share the house with demons (who presumably don't even pay rent). [The Hollywood Reporter]

Budget woes are threatening to derail Denzel Washington and Chris Pine's runaway train actioner 'Unstoppable.' While the Tony Scott-directed pic is in little danger of being scrapped altogether, 20th Century Fox's cost concerns are likely to push the scheduled summer shoot to later this fall. [The Hollywood Reporter] | [Variety]

Michelle Trachtenberg is the latest star to join the cast of Kevin Smith's buddy cop comedy 'A Couple of Dicks,' which stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan as a couple of cops tracking a stolen baseball card. Trachtenberg will play Willis' daughter, with recently added cast member Jason Lee playing her stepdad. [Variety]

'Cloverfield' director Matt Reeves is sinking his teeth into an American remake of the acclaimed Swedish vampire film 'Let the Right One In.' The redo, which will take the title 'Let Me In,' follows a 12-year-old boy who realizes that the sweet girl who moves in next door is a vampire. [The LA Times]
