'SNL''s 'MacGruber' Heads for the Big Screen & More Movie News

'MacGruber,' an 'SNL' parody of the '80s TV show 'MacGyver,' is heading to the big screen with Will Forte reprising his role as the titular bumbling, mulleted bomb diffuser. Kristen Wiig is also returning, and Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer are in talks to join them. Phillipe would play an Army officer who teams with MacGruber, while Kilmer would portray the villainous Cunth. [Variety] | [The Hollywood Reporter]

'Grey's Anatomy' heartthrobs Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane have joined the cast of the romantic comedy 'Valentine's Day.' Dempsey will play a married obstetrician having an affair with Jennifer Garner, while Dane is set to portray a pro football QB secretly dating Bradley Cooper. Scandalous ... After just 12 days in theaters, 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' became the first movie this year to earn $300M domestically (its global tally is now $600M+) -- and yet it might not be the biggest movie of '09. A week before it's July 15 release, 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' is outpacing 'Transformers' in advance ticket sales. Translation: Those robots better watch their back. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Tobey Maguire will star with Elizabeth Banks in 'The Details,' an indie black comedy in which they play a married couple whose issues with infidelity are exacerbated when ravenous raccoons burrow under the sod in their backyard, setting off a chain of events that leads to murder. Dun-dun-dun! [Variety]

Brett Cullen ('The Replacements') will play the alcoholic father to Dakota Fanning's Cherie Currie in the rock biopic 'The Runaways.' Kristen Stewart also stars as Joan Jett in the film about the iconic -- and seriously troubled -- '70s all-girl band. [The Hollywood Reporter]
