'Harry Potter' Romances

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceOh, to be young and in love ... and a magician. As evidenced by the antics of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and co. in 'Harry Potter' and the Half-Blood Prince', even young wizards aren't immune to those funny feelings toward members of the opposite sex -- quite the opposite, actually.

With Half-Blood Prince' hitting theaters, we look back at the hottest and heaviest romances to hit Hogwarts, from Ginny and Harry's budding love to Ron's ill-fated snog-fest with Lavender Brown. Check out AOL Canada's gallery of the best 'Harry Potter' romances below, then tell us your favorite in the comments section.

Harry Potter' Romances

    Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter
Ginny Weasley is the youngest of the seven Weasley children. She first meets Harry through her brother, Ron, and spends the most of her time mooning after the wizard. Ginny eventually starts dating but after witnessing her kissing a boyfriend fiercely, Harry realizes he has feelings for her. Despite Ron's disapproval, Ginny and Harry share their first kiss after Gryffindor again wins the Quidditch Cup over Ravenclaw, thus initiating their relationship. Eventually, Harry and Ginny marry and have three children.

    Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley
Hermione meets Ron Weasley and Harry Potter when they are travelling to Hogwarts for the first time. Though the two boys initially find her arrogant, they become soon become an inseparable trio. Hermione and Ron often fight as they are polar opposites (Ron is bad at school and slovenly, Hermione is a swot and very put together), but they have always had a spark between them. When she becomes involved with Viktor Krum, Ron jealously accuses her of "fraternising with the enemy." Hermione's feelings for Ron grow and she decides to invite him to a party, but he flirts with Lavender instead to get back at her over Krum. The duo eventually share their first kiss in the middle of the Battle of Hogwarts. They later marry and have two children.

    Cho Chang and Harry Potter
Harry develops a crush on Cho Chang, a Ravenclaw student in the year above him, in The Goblet of Fire. He asks her to the Yule Ball, but Chang had already accepted Cedric Diggory's invite. When Cedric is killed by Voldemort, Cho joins Dumbledore's Army (a secret student organisation that teaches the Dark Arts) to avenge his death. After the last DA session, Cho kisses Harry. The duo go on a Valentine's Day date, but Cho's grief over Cedric's death and her jealousy over Hermione interfere and their romantic relationship ends.

    Hermione Granger and Victor Krum
The Seeker for the Bulgarian national Quidditch team visits Hogwarts to take part in the Trwiwizard Tournament. Considering he entered the sports league so early, he is referred to as a prodigy. During the tournament he develops a crush on Hermione and eventually rescues her during one of the tasks. Though he appears broody and lonely, Hermione - who attends the Yule Ball with him - says he is a nice person.

    Cho Chang and Cedric Diggory

A Hufflepuff prefect and house Quidditch captain, Cedric Diggory is beloved by his classmates. He asks Cho Chang to the Yule Ball (not knowing she and Harry Potter have been flirting), and she accepts his invitation. She and Cedric maintain their relationship until he is killed (indirectly by Voldemort) during the Triwizard Tournament. Cho's sustained grief over Cedric's death eventually helps destroy her romantic relationship with Harry.

    Lily Potter and Severus Snape
Severus Snape befriended Harry Potter's mother, Lily Evans, when they lived near each other as children. They were driven apart at Hogwarts, where Snape developed an interest in the Dark Arts. Snape eventually betrayed Voldemort to protect Lily when he found out the former tried to attack the Potters. Snape asked that Dumbledore keep his reason for turning his back on Voldemort - his love for Lily - from Harry.

    Rubeus Hagrid and Madame Maxine
Hagrid is revealed to be of mixed wizard and giant parentage, which makes it all the more appropriate when he falls for Olympe Maxine. Another half-giant witch, she is the headmistress of the French magic school Beauxbatons. Madame Maxine seems to reciprocate his feelings, as seen when they are shown together at the Yule Ball.

    Warner Bros.

    Lavender Brown and Ron Weasley
Ron's first girlfriend, Lavender Brown, is a close friend and housemate of Parvati Patil. She is among the original members of Dumbledore's Army and starts dating Ron in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Though Ron is not particularly enamoured with Lavender, he keeps up appearances to make Hermione jealous. But Lavender becomes jealous of her boyfriend's friendship with Hermione and eventually breaks up with him over it.

    Warner Bros.

    Fleur Delacour and Ron Weasley

Fleur Delacour is a student of Beauxbatons Academy in France, and is selected as a champion in the prestigious Triwizard Tournament. During this time, Ron falls under her spell and goes gaga every time he is in her presence. However, Fleur pays little attention to him and eventually marries his older sibling Bill. Later on, she and her husband provide a safe haven for Ron, Hermione and Harry.

    Luna Lovegood and Ron Weasley
Luna Lovegood is a Ravenclaw student one year younger than Harry. Rowling has often said that Luna is the "anti-Hermione", as Luna believes in things on faith alone, while Hermione grounds her views in facts and logic. Though nothing ever happens between her and Ron Weasley, she appears to have a crush on him when she first meets him. They share a carriage in a train with a bunch of other people and she laughs a little too loudly at one of his jokes, stares at him often and admits she finds him funny.
