'Scream 4': Possible Plotlines

When the final credits rolled on 'Scream 3' way back in 2000, the future was looking absolutely peachy and serial-killer free for tough-as-nails heroine Sidney Prescott and her pals.

Sidney and co. had just handily dispatched the d-bag who'd masterminded all the series' murders -- turns out it was Sid's bastard (in more ways than one) half-brother Roman (Scott Foley), who held just a wee bit of a grudge against Sidney because their mother had abandoned him. As an added bonus, Sidney was also seemingly at the beginning of a budding romance with a dashing cop played by none other than Patrick Dempsey, while Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox) had finally worked things out and gotten engaged. So all was well with the world, right? Wrong.

When a movie makes $160 million off a budget of $40 million, there's bound to be a sequel. And that's exactly what's happened here. Campbell, Cox and Arquette have all signed on to star in 'Scream 4,' with horror maestro Wes Craven in talks to once again take the directorial reins. What's more, 'Scream 4' isn't just a one-off deal; it's meant to be the first in a new trilogy of films for the franchise that is apparently aiming to keep fans' screaming well into the 2020s.

But like we said before, everything was coming up Sidney at the end of 'Scream 3' and pretty much anyone who had any sort of gripe with the Sidster had bit the big one -- so where can the plot possibly go? 'Scream 4: Child's Play'
In this iteration, Dewey and Gale's 8-year-old twins are terrorized by a mask-wearing bully at school. But when said bully is brutally murdered and more of the twins' classmates start turning up dead shortly thereafter, Sid, Dewey and Gale team up to unmask the killer before the second grade has zero students.

'Scream 4: Origins'
The beginnings of the 'Scream' saga, including the murder of Sid's mother, are explored in more detail ... with the original cast playing their younger selves (just wearing '80s clothes and with some age-erasing makeup). Brilliant!

'Scream 4: The Future Is Now'
Set in 2036, the actors play the children of the characters they portrayed in the original trilogy (yep, this Dewey and Gale are bro and sis). This time around, it's their parents' secrets that come back to haunt them, as they're stalked by a killer who uses futuristic means of murder (i.e. laser guns).
