'Flight of the Conchords' Star, Blake Clark Join 'Toy Story 3'

Kristen Schaal of Toy Story 3There a few new toys -- or at least the voices behind them -- in Disney's successful 'Toy Story' franchise.

'Flight of the Conchords' star Kristen Schaal and veteran comedic actor Blake Clark ('50 First Dates,' 'Joe Dirt') will join Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks) and the rest of the iconic animated cast in next June's 'Toy Story 3,' the film's director Lee Unkrich announced Monday.

Other new actors in the third installment of 'Toy Story' include Michael Keaton, Whoopi Goldberg, Bonnie Hunt and Jeff Garlin.

Clark will reprise the Slinky dog role left vacant by pal Jim Varney's death in 2000. Clark is "channeling" Varney in early readings, Unkrich said.

Schaal will play a character yet to be named, and is riding a career wave thanks to 'The Daily Show,' and this year's 'The Vampire's Assistant' and 'The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard.'

The 'Toy Story 3' trailer is now showing in theaters before the 'Toy Story' and 'Toy Story 2' double feature (whose two-week theatrical run was recently extended), and just debuted online at Moviefone. The plot involves a now 18-year-old Andy -- the kid of the mid '90s -- leaving his toys behind when he heads off to college. Because toga parties where you play with dolls just aren't as popular as they used to be.
