The Best Showtimes Pages Online Just Got Better

Hi, this is Amee, proud Product Manager of Moviefone.com. Usually, I try to stay as far away from the editorial pages as I can (our editor-in-chief greatly appreciates this) but today, I just had to jump in to let you know how excited we are about the launch of our new Moviefone Showtimes pages.

Every day, I pore through your user feedback, taking note of how much you love our showtimes experience, as well as listing out the features you feel are missing or not working quite right. Well, we took your most popular wishes, added a few of our own, and cooked up a new version of showtimes. Take a look at what we've done and please let us know what you think about the changes/additions.

UPDATE - Friday, 10/16 4:00 PM ET: We admit it! We were wrong!
We have reinstated the theater shortcuts at the top of our showtimes pages (because you let us know) as well as addressing the peek-a-boo issue with the date dropdown. We want to thank everyone who took the time to write in with their suggestions and thank you for your patience!

    You can see ticket prices
Not all theaters send us ticket price information, but for those that do, we give you that information.

If you're wondering why we only show adult and child regular prices, well, it turns out that prices for senior and matinee tickets change very rapidly. We decided to show the information you can count on, rather than take a chance on misinforming you.

As for the jumbo popcorn and soda, we trust you can get that info when you get to the theater.

Save a tree... print just what you need
At the top of every page you'll find a new print option, alongside other features to share the page. We highly recommend that you use the print option rather than print from your browser.

But wait, there's more. This new print capability lets you select specific theaters or movies. So, instead of printing out everything on the page, take a second, select what you need, and save a tree.

    Online ticketing view
I've seen complaints about not being able to purchase tickets online for showtimes. The deal is that not every theater offers online ticketing. So, now you can view all possible showtimes, or take advantage of a special view that shows ONLY theaters with online ticketing. Try that tab at the top to see what I mean.

    More movie info
How many times have you been checking out what's playing at a theater only to wonder what a specific movie was about? Lots, from what I've read. We've added a nifty little link called "More Info" under each movie title ... just click it and we'll zoom cool stuff right into the page you're on. Without jumping around you'll be able to view the poster, a short synopsis, top starring actors, critic and user reviews, and links to the latest trailer or exclusive Moviefone content.

    Theater amenities demystified
No more guessing about what those icons next to each theater really mean. Just roll your mouse over each little icon and we'll tell you what amenities are available for each theater. We also added "3-D" to the list so you can find out if a theater is capable of showing 3-D formatted movies.

    Overall Goodness
We gave the showtime info some breathing room! The pages have been redesigned for better and easier readability. (No more cramping all the info into a tiny middle column.)

Are we done? Not yet. Keep sending us feedback. Our goal is to give you the best showtimes experience on the web, and we'll keep working on improvements and enhancements to continue to make our site better for you. We hope you enjoy the new pages!

PS. For those of you who live along the US-Canadian border, as you requested, we added the option to view "US-only" or "Canadian-only" theaters. Nice, eh?
