Penelope Cruz Playing a Big-Loving Banker in 'Sex and the City 2'

As if 'Sex and the City 2' didn't already boast enough star power to constitute its own galaxy, the sequel to the 2007 hit just added a bit more.

Oscar winner Penelope Cruz has joined the (non-Beatles-comprised) fab four of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon in the cast, and, contrary to previous reports, she will not be playing herself. According to PEOPLE, the Latina beauty will portray a glamorous banker with a cute little Spanish accent and a big thing for Mr. Big (Chris Noth).

In fact, earlier this week, Cruz was spotted at New York's Empire Hotel filming a scene in which her character gets a little too up close and personal with Carrie Bradshaw's (Parker) main man.

The plot of the 'Sex' sequel is being kept tightly under wraps, but it will reportedly focus on Carrie and Big adjusting to married life (and apparently the outside temptations that can threaten 'til-death-do-us-part), Charlotte (Davis) coping with motherhood and the misguided notion that her hubby may be having an affair, Miranda (Nixon) making a surprising career change after she's sued for malpractice ... and rumors are even flying that perennial singleton (and cougar) Samantha (Cattrall) might tie the knot with ex-beau Smith (Jason Lewis). In the combined words of Sacha Baron Cohen's alter-egos Borat and Bruno: That is NOT such a Samantha thing to do.

So, will Cruz's spicy banker steal away Carrie's fairy-tale happy ending? Or will Mr. Big live up to his name and prove that he's above cheating on his wife? And will Samantha really, seriously walk down the aisle? 'Sex' fans will find out on May 15, 2010, when Carrie and co. slip on their Manolos and waltz into theaters with what's sure to be a sequel of "Big" proportions.
