5. 'Psycho' (1998)What were you thinking? A shot-for shot remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic creep-fest and then filming it in color -- oh, the horror! Vince Vaughn stars as mama's boy Norman Bates and Anne Heche has the displeasure of taking a shower in this remake by Gus Van Sant. Ted Turner could have done a better job by taking a stab at colorizing Hitchcock's original. Yeesh.
4. 'Two Thousand Maniacs' (1964)This pulp revenge flick centers on a Georgia town that invites six "Yankees" (not the baseball team) to a celebration of the 100th anniversary of when the town was destroyed by the Union army. Guess the Civil War never ended for these Southerners -- they proceed to dispatch of the visitors in different scenarios. That's right, a horror plot based on the War Between the States. We don't know who should be more offended, Southerners or anyone who's sat through this un-civil film.
3. 'Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2' (2000)Evil doesn't die -- it's remade into another freakin' snoozer about more students lost in the woods. This time around it's a Goth girl, a Wiccan gal, a sensitive guy and a dorky troublemaker who get drunk, stoned and possessed. Two live, two die. Who cares? And this version allegedly had a script, unlike the mostly improvised original -- now that's really scary.
2. 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' (1959) One of the greatest of all-time celluloid baddies was written and directed by legendary schlock-meister Ed Wood. This film (aka 'Grave Robbers From Outer Space') about aliens who resurrect the dead to rule the earth is truly awful for so many reasons. The most obvious is that when star Bela Lugosi died four days into shooting, he was replaced by a double who looked nothing like him. Wood really had no gift for filmmaking -- at all.
1. 'Halloween' (2007) Filmmaking 101: Never remake a classic. This craptastic "reimagining" of John Carpenter's original by Rob Zombie attempts to explore the psyche of killer Michael Myers. We want to be scared by 'Halloween,' not bored by it -- stick to the music, dude! On a lighter note, horror hottie Danielle Harris has starred in four 'Halloween" movies to date, including this mess.

Are you kidding me with Halloween (2007)? That was a great movie. It had so much of a better plot than any other Halloween movie. There is no way Halloween (07) should even be in this top 25. I agree with most everything else.
sinnamin at 9:36AM on Oct 21st 2009
I also loved Halloween 2007 and i disagree with most of the movies on this list. I guess that is what i get for reading someone elses opinion.
jedadiah at 11:32AM on Oct 21st 2009
if anyone actually thinks any of the movies on this list are 'great' - you are an idiot with no taste whatsoever. You are the reason why hollywood makes sooooo many terrible movies. Please drown yourself.

I didn't see the Halloween remake, but it couldn't be any worse than House of 1000 Corpses, which I didn't see anywhere on the list but most certainly should have been. Psycho remake should've been #1. At least Ed Wood had the excuse of being completely insane when he did Plan 9

I think their talking about the second remake that Zombie did in 09'....which was awful, the first remake he did was good...09' was a complete disappointment

I completely agree with the Halloween remake being on this list. I don't need to see two hours of "how Michael Myers grew up." It was what a horror film should never be: boring. Even a shot by shot remake would have been preferred to this lame duck mess.

I TOTALLY agree with number 1. Rob Zombie killed that movie! He made it into his own little white trash version and it was AWFUL. Should've never ever hit theatres. The original Halloween is and always will be the best!! Tom, you're clueless. And Rob, stick to music cause you cannot make movies for $hit!!
elkscorpion11 at 8:45PM on Oct 24th 2009
i agree with u 100% rob showed what happens to mentally abused kids who eat too much junk and have little to no love he also showed what drs have been saying for years-some killers start out killing animals! i think this should rank as a great remake!!

No way Tom. The original Halloween was the best. No psychological BS. HE was just evil/boogeyman, plain and simple. You obviously never held a babysitting job. This scared me when I was 15 and it scares my teen daughters today. Carpenters version was way better!
Thor at 9:30PM on Oct 24th 2009
I agree Holloween 2007 was great....the best one ever..
Ronald McDouchebag at 9:52PM on Oct 24th 2009
better plot than the original? you're on crack brotha, Zombie destroyed everything great about the original and just made it into your typical serial killer psycho movie. Been there done that, he had no concept of what the original was all about. I'm glad it's number 1 on this list, it's positioned perfectly
Alex at 9:44PM on Oct 24th 2009
yea i agree that movie was great and plan 9 was a fast Eddie movie and all his movies were bad bc hed make about 5 in a week
SykoKiller at 10:42PM on Oct 24th 2009
Utter BS movie critics. You can tell this is the guy who gave Twilight (utter chick flick if ya didn't already know) 5 stars. Halloween (07) was an amazing horror movie. We needed some more background on how MM grew up, and this was a perfect movie. I agree Saw V is a bit played out, but cmon, some of the special effects in it are outstanding, as well as most of the contraptions Jigsaw comes up with. Zombie Strippers isn't even a frikin horror movie. OMG IT HAS BLOOD! HORROR HORROR HORROR! No. That was a comedy with zombies and strippers, how can you even take Zombie Strippers seriously as a horror movie name. Lastly, on the list, Jason X was an awesome movie. It set our beloved killing machine on a space station, but this time, he's suped up. Armor and all, he took out a robot with a rocket launcher. So they changed the setting of where he was, big deal. It put a very nice twist on a classic stalking killer. BTW, I loved how they projected Crystal Lake to distract him.

agreed....rob zombie did an excellent job with this remake!!! I loved it!!!
Ron at 11:56PM on Oct 24th 2009
I have to say there is NO WAY Zombie's Halloween should be on this list. I agree with the rest of them. I'll ad one more to the list though. I just got home from the movies and have to say Paranormal Activity can be added to this list. IT SUCKED !!!!!! Dont waste your money. The last two minutes of the movie is the only good part.
Managermike at 1:07AM on Oct 25th 2009
I agree about Halloween but have to add killer clowns. As for the rest of the list they are definitly crap.
Kuhndog at 1:20AM on Oct 25th 2009
The original Halloween IS the best, BUT Zombie's remake was a nice companion piece to the original. His Halloween 2 missed the mark....badly. Lastly, I liked Jason X. Yes it's dumb, but aren't they all. The rest of the list....I'm ok with what's on it.
danny l at 2:47AM on Oct 25th 2009
the only reason i went to see the remake, was to see how bad it was!! I was pleasantly SUPRISED how GREAT hawlloween remake was!!! It should not e on this list!!!
Suzuki89 at 10:44PM on Oct 25th 2009
Halloween(2007) is the best of all the Halloween movies. Rob Zombie did an amazing job on this motion picture. Agree 110% with sykokiller he watches a movie for more then it is. Pays attention to detail instead of OMG Jasons in space, gay. All you people who say Halloween 2 by Rob Zombie was bad need to go to church he just made it differently then what you expected gave it a different twist it wasn't like every other horror movie, needing to have a bunch of pointless blood and screaming and killing. Watch it again you might change your mind.
kerry at 8:03PM on Oct 25th 2009
the Halloween remake was awful. Seriously. They explained what was wrong with Michael Myers, which was a big mistake. I like my killers "pure evil", with NO explanation. Rob Zombie Dragged it out, and it bored me to death. It was the worst remake of any movie I have ever seen.
I agree with ALL of this list except for "I Spit on Your Grave" and "Killer Klowns"...those are classics.
