Casting Bites: Jovovich Joins 'Crowd,' Thornton Goes 'Faster' and More

Milla JovovichProduction on white-knuckle action, intrigue and suspense flicks show no sign of slowing as 2010 nears. Casting news on Milla Jovovich, Billy Bob Thornton and Emannuelle Chriqui (in separate projects) suggests next year may be big for psychotics, politics and plot twists on revenge themes.

Jovovich will star in 'Faces in the Crowd,' a psycho-thriller marking the first all-English project by Julien Magnat, who helmed 2002's low-budget 'Bloody Mallory.' Per Variety, she'll play a woman victimized by a serial murderer who survives. Trouble is, her head injury left her with a disorder called prosopagnosia -- it removes a person's ability to distinguish faces. Not a good thing when the criminal remains at large.

Thornton, meanwhile, is joining 'Faster,' also according to Variety. Helmed by George Tillman ('Notorious'), the flick will star Billy Bob as a cop trying to stop an ex-con (Dwayne Johnson) from exacting revenge on those who murdered his brother. The twist? It's a race against time for the cop, as an assassin is also close on Johnson's tail.

Finally, the Hollywood Reporter confirms that Chriqui will leave her 'Entourage' co-stars back in the U.S. to visit 'Georgia,' a Renny Harlin film about the short but bloody 2009 war in South Ossetia, in which Russia attacked one of its former, now independent, states. Playing an ethnic Georgian doctoral student, Chriqui stars opposite Val Kilmer, who plays a journalist on the ground covering the conflict.
