Hugh Jackman Won't Host 2010 Oscars

It's a bit early to be talking Oscars, but we already know that we won't be seeing Hugh Jackman at next year's show -- unless he gets nominated for 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' or (much more likely) is tapped as a presenter. The Aussie hunk has told the Academy he's not interested in hosting the awards show two years in a row, Variety reports.

No one else has been officially mentioned to take over the hosting slot, although recent suggestions have ranged from such funny people as Neil Patrick Harris, Ricky Gervais (who's emceeing the Golden Globes), Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin ... and even Jennifer Aniston. And, hey, David Letterman is available.

Depending on your take on this past February's Oscars, Jackman either livened up a dull telecast or turned it into a West Coast version of the Tony Awards. That all-singing, all-dancing show was overseen by executive producer Bill Condon, director of 'Chicago.' Don't rule out a high dance quotient for the 82nd annual Academy Awards in March, however: Adam Shankman, who helmed 'Hairspray' and is currently a judge on 'So You Think You Can Dance,' will produce along with Bill Mechanic.

Jackman is currently starring on Broadway with Daniel Craig in the drama 'A Steady Rain' and then will prep for DreamWorks' 'The Real Steel.' He says he hasn't ruled out hosting the Oscars in the future -- so keep your fingers crossed, all you Hugh lovers.

Who should host the Oscars in 2010?
