For the past twenty years or so there's been one topic of movie conversation that appears to have been stuck in a groove. Namely, when is Ghostbusters 3 happening? For one reason or another (scripts, cast, timing, no-one can be bothered) it just hasn't happened, until now that is.Apparently, the notoriously non-committal Bill Murray (who only two weeks ago claimed that he didn't like the current script) has now allegedly revealed that he likes the script. Which probably sounds as watertight a story as a pair of cardboard underpants, but wait, this latest update comes from someone who should know - Mr Dan Ackroyd.
"I think we're closer than we've ever been." Ackroyd told New York Magazine recently. "Two years ago, I would've said there was no chance. Now it's looking pretty good."
And he didn't stop there either as he hinted at some new Ghostbusters getting involved - including a few ladies: "I hope it's a nice mix, maybe two guys and two girls." he said. "We'll find some great young actors. We're probably going to search for unknowns. I want to retire and hand it over to a young cadre and cadet who can pick up the equipment and drive the car because I'm too old for that now."
So it looks like this story has a little bit of life left in it yet. But while we wait, let's remind ourselves why we're bothered...
