Anti-Defamation League to Honor Steven Spielberg

Believe it or not, there are some awards Oscar winning-director Steven Spielberg hasn't yet received.

Variety reports that Spielberg will receive the Anti-Defamation League's highest honor: America's Democratic Legacy Award. He's among good company: Past recipients include Colin Powell (who was honored in 2005) and John F. Kennedy (1963.)

ADL calls Spielberg a "true champion of human rights," citing his films, which range from 'Schindler's List' and 'Munich' to 'Jaws' and 'Jurassic Park,' his TV productions ('Band of 'Brothers') and his philanthropic endeavors such as the Shoah Foundation.

'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert and Israeli singer Noa Dori will perform at the event, which takes place Dec. 9 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all" and has since expanded its mission to broader civil rights issues.
