'Twilight' heartthrob Robert Pattinson is set to star alongside Nicole Kidman in 'Bel Ami,' an adaptation of Guy De Maupassant's sexually charged story of ambitious social climbers in late 19th century Paris.According to Screen Daily, Pattinson -- who also stars in the 'Twilight' sequel 'New Moon,' premiering in the U.S. Nov. 20 -- will play 'Bel Ami''s ambitious young protagonist, who moves up in the world by getting down with some of 1890s Paris' most high-flying ladies.
The film will be backed by the deep pockets of 'American Idol' mastermind Simon Fuller and his 19 Entertainment. Uberto Pasolini ('The Fully Monty') will also produce. Acclaimed U.K. theater mavens Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod are directing the movie, which starts production in London and Budapest next February.
For her part, Kidman has a whole flurry of work in the can, including Rob Marshall's upcoming musical-romance 'Nine,' which will co-star Daniel Day Lewis, and the Fox Searchlight weighty drama 'Rabbit Hole', which also features Aaron Eckhart.
Of course, Pattinson isn't having any trouble getting work these days, either. Besides signing on to a third 'Twilight' installment for Summit next year, he's also starring in the romantic drama 'Remember Me' for the studio.
