'Gentlemen Broncos' Wide Release Canceled

Amid unforgiving reviews and paltry box office returns, Fox Searchlight has called off the wider release of 'Gentleman Broncos.'

Previously, director Jared Hess, who inked the script together with his wife, Jerusha, had impressed the public with his odd, jaundiced, disenfranchised-youth worldview in the keenly original 'Napoleon Dynamite' and the fine 'Nacho Libre.'

But three has not proven to be the charm for Hess. Since its limited opening in New York and Los Angeles last week, 'Broncos' has been on the receiving end of a fusillade of critical buckshot, more than many star-powered flicks can bounce back from when opening small, then playing wide.

According to Cinema Blend, the brickbats translated for Fox Searchlight into an immediate need to stop the hemorrhaging. The studio, not exactly having a banner year, has pulled the film from playing in any other cities, leaving some critics dazed and much of the public relieved. We guess it was the 'Gentlemen'-ly thing to do.
