Timberlake, Aykroyd, Faris to Star in Live-Action/CGI 'Yogi Bear'

Hey, Boo-Boo! Warner Bros.' 3-D live-action/CGI animated version of the much-loved Hanna-Barbera cartoon 'Yogi Bear' is moving forward with the announcement of the casting of Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris.

The studio is in talks with Aykroyd to voice Yogi, and Timberlake may join in as the voice of Yogi's bow-tie wearing sidekick Boo-Boo. Faris would play a nature documentary filmmaker who travels to Jellystone Park and encounters the animated characters, according to a report in Variety.

Eric Brevig, who last directed the dreary 'Journey to the Center of the Earth,' has been tapped to helm the project, which is set to begin shooting in New Zealand next month for a release next year.

Faris' career has been on the upswing since her standout performance in 'The House Bunny.' She has since voiced roles in 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs' and the upcoming 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel,' and has a lead role in next year's 'Young Americans.'

Ex-'N Sync singer Timberlake recently used his voice in 'Shrek the Third' and starred in 'The Open Road' opposite Jeff Bridges. Aykroyd is currently working on a third 'Ghostbusters.'

Yogi Bear, inspired by Art Carney's Ed Norton character on 'The Honeymooners,' first appeared in Hanna-Barbera cartoons in 1958 and was brought to the big screen in 1964's animated 'Hey There, It's Yogi Bear.' Do we really need another cherished TV character turned into a computerized parody of itself (think Garfield, Scooby-Doo, Rocky & Bullwinkle)?
