'Sheneneh and Wanda': Oh My Goodness, Are You Ready For It?

Skank RobbersRemember Martin Lawrence's and Jamie Foxx's ugly-girl drag characters from '90s TV? Ever wish Lawrence and Foxx would bring those characters back -- for a full-length feature? Together?

If so, your prayers have been answered. Variety reports that Lawrence and Foxx will co-produce and co-star in 'Sheneneh and Wanda.' The spoof will see the blond, bewigged, over-accessorized duo support themselves by turning to bank robbery. Foxx will write the screenplay for the Screen Gems release.

The idea started back in June, via a pre-taped sketch at the BET Awards. The sketch was a spoof trailer for an imaginary movie called 'Skank Robbers' that united Sheneneh (Lawrence's recurring drag character from his sitcom 'Martin') and Foxx's Wanda (his drag sketch character from 'In Living Color') as partners in crime. The fake trailer earned such a positive response that the two actors decided to expand it into a real feature. (Watch the 'Skank Robbers' trailer below.)

'Sheneneh' wouldn't be the first movie based on a fake trailer for a so-far nonexistent film. As we speak, Robert Rodriguez is preparing 'Machete,' based on his fake trailer from 'Grindhouse,' for a 2010 release.

It's not clear whether Sheneneh and Wanda, so funny in small doses, can sustain a full-length movie (though that pretend trailer is pretty funny). It's also not clear why Lawrence and Foxx didn't keep the trailer's superior 'Skank Robbers' title, or whether there's a part in the movie for Tyler Perry. Maybe Sheneneh and Wanda could have a certain gun-toting granny as an accomplice?
