'An Education' Director to Helm Rom-Com 'One Day'

'An Education,' a sensitive and introspective look at a young woman's coming of age in early 1960 England, is generating lots of Oscar buzz, especially for its breakout star Carey Mulligan.

So what's the next move for the film's director, Lone Scherfig? A time-spanning romantic comedy, of course. Scherfig is set to direct 'One Day,' which tells the story of a couple that meets one day each year for 20 years, a la 'Same Time, Next Year,' and follows their lives until they realize they were meant for each other, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Oscars 2010: The Race So Far -- Best Supporting Actor

Oscar race handicappers don't usually complain about a dearth of supporting actor contenders; there's usually plenty of buddies, sidekicks, dads, and villains to fill the bill. Not this year, though. Aside from one or two sure things, there's no telling who might sneak into the category, or how deep the Academy and Globes voters may have to dig to find the rest of the supporting actor slate.

The Locks: The only bet-the-farm sure thing in the race is Christoph Waltz (pictured, right), a front-runner since May's Cannes Film Festival for his non-cartoonish Nazi villain in 'Inglourious Basterds.'

    Moviefone Minute: December 8

Another New Clip and Ten-Minute Featurette from Avatar

AvatarAvatar is so close now you can almost smell it. Well, that would be weird, but you get my point. Anyway, we're a matter of days from James Cameron's sci-fi adventure arriving and, whaddyaknow, we have another collection of new videos to analyse and generally drool over.

UK Box Office: December 4 to 6

Paranormal ActivityIt failed to dislodge The Twilight Saga: New Moon from the summit of the charts when it came out the previous weekend, but now Paranormal Activity has belatedly grabbed the top spot. That's all down to a slim 29% decline for the micro-budget horror, as against a 62% drop for New Moon.

In fact, New Moon falls two places to number 3, since Disney's A Christmas Carol also experienced a very gentle drop in takings: -14%. The Dickens animation finds itself second on the chart in its fifth week of release, demonstrating remarkable staying power.
