New on DVD: Week of November 10

    'Up'
What It's About: A 78-year-old balloon salesman finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America. But he discovers all too late that his biggest nightmare has stowed away on the trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

It's Kinda Like: 'Wallace & Gromit' meets 'Around the World in 80 Days'

    What We Say:
This Pixar animation adventure has everything going for it: Wild imagination, clever situations, heartwarming emotions and life lessons, and great visuals -- and it's never boring. And there's an impeccable voice cast: Ed Asner as the old man, newcomer Jordan Nagai as Russell, Christopher Plummer and Delroy Lindo. If only live-action comedies were this good.

    'The Ugly Truth'
What It's About: A romantically challenged morning show producer (Katherine Heigl) is teamed with a hardcore TV personality (Gerard Butler) who promises to spill the ugly truth on what makes men and women tick. She reluctantly gets embroiled in a series of tests by the chauvinistic correspondent as he tries to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love.

It's Kinda Like: Too many other light-headed romantic comedies

What We Say: Predictable story line has a pair of likable actors wasting their time on the big screen. Katherine Heigl plays the by-now-standard Type A female executive while Gerard Butler gets to act typically macho. It's a retread of so many other rom-coms that we even get Heigl channeling Meg Ryan's restaurant orgasm in "When Harry Met Sally."

    'The Accidental Husband'
What It's About: A fire fighter finds his life turned upside-down when his fiancee suddenly calls off their nuptials after listening to the ramblings of a radio love guru. Determined to get back at the "love doctor," the fire fighter forges a fake marriage license, "accidentally" marrying him to the radio doctor, who's already engaged to someone else.

It's Kinda Like: 'Frasier' in drag

What We Say: Dull comedy and silly story line strains your credibility. Though we love watching Uma Thurman (who plays the radio guru) and Colin Firth (who plays her button-down fiancé) on the big screen, their talents are wasted in this outing.

Other New November 10 DVD Releases:
    'Spread'
    'The Merry Gentleman'
    'Ballast'
    'Enlighten Up!'
