Rachel McAdams Purr-fectly Cast as Black Cat in 'Spider-Man 4'?

Let's just caterwaul it out with a grin: Mee-oow! Rumor has it -- and Mania.com is now reporting -- that Rachel McAdams could be cast in the role of the sexy Black Cat in 'Spider-Man 4.' There's no confirmation yet from director Sam Raimi, but it's widely known that McAdams took a meeting with the producers of the flick, and would be colossal catnip for audiences if clad in a costume fit for a fetching feline.

In Spidey-speak, the Black Cat's name is Felicia Hardy. Playing her would be a plum gig for the beautiful McAdams: The character spins a purr-fectly coiled love web around Peter Parker. Comic fans also know there's much more motivating Felicia than initially meets the mewing paw.

McAdams, who resumed her climb up the Hollywood ladder in 2007 after a year off, once said she'd never consider doing a big-budget action flick. Indeed, her most recent roles -- in this year's 'The Time Traveler's Wife' and in Guy Ritchie's soon-to-open 'Sherlock Holmes' -- were all chosen with an eye toward strong female characters.

But for all the technical wizardry that will be expected of 'Spidey 4,' Felicia will probably be one smoldering, memorable lioness. Then again, Mania.com also reports that the Black Cat won't be the film's only villain -- details still forthcoming.

How would Rachel McAdams' casting affect your desire to see 'Spider-Man 4'?
