'Moneyball' Close to Hiring New Skipper: Who Should It Be?

'Moneyball' is finally swinging for the fences.

Several months after Steven Soderbergh hit the dugout and Aaron Sorkin came into the lineup for writing duties, the Brad Pitt-starring baseball film is again gaining momentum.

Two newbie directors have been circling the mound and talking with Pitt, Sony executives and producers during the past few weeks, according to the Hollywood Reporter: Oscar nominee Bennett Miller, who arrived on the scene with 2005's 'Capote,' and Marc Webb, who made a cinematic splash this summer with '(500) Days of Summer.'

Each would bring his own sensibility to helming the project.

Webb has style, wit and an eye for turning the mundane into the spectacular (anyone who could make downtown Los Angeles look as gorgeous as he did in '(500)' scores high with us). His name has been bandied about for Universal's remake of 'Jesus Christ Superstar.'

Miller, on the other hand, has an Oscar nom under his belt and, on the based-on-real-life 'Capote,' took a more literary, traditional approach to the production. He's been developing 'Foxcatcher,' another real-life tale, about a schizophrenic member of the DuPont family.

'Moneyball,' based on the 2004 Michael Lewis book, is the story of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane (Pitt) and his successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated statistical analysis to draft his players.

Who's the best manager for this team? Would Webb, who could add flash to the story, score more than Miller, who would certainly add some much-needed class to the sport? Pitch us your thoughts.
