Top 40 Bad Films of the Decade

As we near the end of the '00s (we say "oughts"), we look back at the lows of a decade that brought us such big-screen gems as these flicks: a breakdancer wakes up from a coma 20 years later, two African-American men disguise themselves as white girls ... and America's Sweetheart portrays an unstable stalker. And those are just the high concept offerings.

Check out the films we count down as the 40 worst of the 2000s. Let us know if we missed your (least) favorite, or if we included one of your (real) favorites. Read on -- and enjoy.

    Top 10 Cameos of 2009

What is it about cameos we love so much? The surprise factor? The chance to see actors and real people sending up their set-in-stone images? Or just the hilarious disconnect we get when someone as famous as, say, Harrison Ford, strolls into a film that's clearly not ever going to show up on his official resume? How about all of the above?

We tried to keep some of these plot twists intact for you here, but if you don't want to know which mellow musician went blue in 'Funny People,' which unlikely 'Saturday Night Live' alum popped up in between Nazi bloodbaths -- or which comedy legend made this year's most-talked-about (and best kept secret) cameo -- then for the love of Mike Tyson, don't read any further!

Free Movie of the Day: 'Salome's Last Dance'

'Salome's Last Dance,' a minor masterpiece directed by Ken Russell, one of the more sex- and faith-obsessed of British cinema's bad-boys, was released in 1988 and, while he has worked on a slew of film projects in the 20 years since then, this one, for all of its narrative and visual quirkiness, remains a testimonial to the director's idiosyncratic style. That's why 'Salome's Last Dance' is our pick for movie of the day.

Kate Bosworth Checks In to 'Love Hotels'

Kate Bosworth Checks Into 'Love Hotels'It appears Lois Lane is getting lost in translation.

Kate Bosworth has agreed to take the lead role in director Jean-Marc Vallee's upcoming 'Lost Girls and Love Hotels,' an adaptation of Catherine Hanrahan's 2006 novel. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bosworth will play a twentysomething woman who moves to Tokyo to escape her past, only to spend her days teaching conversational English to airline crews, and nights immersed in sex and drugs. But when a Western girl goes missing, her search for the girl leads her down a road toward redemption.

'Transylmania' Sets Record for Worst Box-Office Debut Ever

    Vampire movies don't always work.

The genre-spoofing indie film 'Transylmania' endured the worst opening in the history of the domestic box office over the weekend for a movie opening up in more than 1,000 theaters, according entertainment news site TheWrap.

Colin Firth on 'A Single Man,' 'Bridget Jones 3' and Playing Bad Guys

Colin Firth One of the most talked-about film performances of 2009 is Colin Firth's starring role in 'A Single Man.' The British actor's beautifully sensitive portrayal of George Falconer, a gay college professor whose longtime partner dies suddenly, has put him on the shortlist for a Best Actor Oscar nomination. The film, based on the 1964 Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name, was written, directed and produced by Tom Ford, the American fashion designer previously known mainly for helming the houses of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. 'A Single Man' premiered at this year's Venice Film Festival, at which Firth won the Volpi Cup (best actor award).

Firth is probably best known for playing two not terribly different incarnations of a Jane Austen character: ultimate 19th-century heartthrob Mr. Darcy in the beloved 1995 miniseries 'Pride and Prejudice' and his 21st-century counterpart, Mark Darcy, in 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.' But he's also shown his range via diverse roles in movies such as 'Where the Truth Lies,' 'Mamma Mia!' and 'Nanny McPhee.' His screen personae tend to be intelligent, understated and dryly witty, and the man's no different in real life. He chatted with Moviefone about 'A Single Man,' 'Bridget Jones' and playing bad guys, among other other things.

Patricia Clarkson, Danny Glover, John Cena to Star in Wrestling Drama

WWE Films is stepping out of the ring for its first non-action movie and has cast Patricia Clarkson, Devon Graye, Madeleine Martin, Danny Glover and wrestling-champ-turned-action-hero John Cena in the PG-rated melodrama 'Brother's Keeper.'

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film centers on a high-school boy who tries to bring his family together 10 years after the death of his father, a state college wrestling legend. Though the boy has no apparent athletic talents, he decides that the only way to reunite his mother and estranged older brother, also a former wrestling champ, is to join the high school wrestling team.
