If the headline above has you scratching your head, you haven't been to Quebec in a while.According to Variety, Sony Pictures has acquired the remake rights to 'Fathers and Guns' ('De Pere en Flic') the Quebec summer blockbuster that went on to become the highest-grossing French-language film ever released in the province.
The action-comedy focuses on a dysfunctional father-and-son cop team assigned to infiltrate a therapy camp-cum-outdoor adventure retreat for fathers and sons. The film, starring Michel Cote and Louis-Jose Houde, opened at number one in Quebec and out-grossed Hollywood films by more than 50% (even beating out 'Bruno' on opening weekend.)
The original film's director Emile Gaudreault has signed on as a co-producer for the remake so far, but no word on whether he will direct as well.
Producers haven't cast the leads for the remake yet, so we'd humbly like to throw in our two cents and suggest reuniting Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg for the lead roles. Given their outstanding chemistry and yen for action in 'Zombieland,' this one seems like a perfect match.
