Stephenie Meyer Breaks Her Silence on 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

Editor's note: Moviefone is excited to feature the writing of several dedicated 'Twilight' fan bloggers to our readers. The first to join us is What the Forks co-creator Betsey Denberg. Please join us in welcoming her to the Moviefone family, and expect to find lots of cool original 'Twilight' content from her and her fellow Twihards in the coming weeks.

It's been almost a year since 'Twilight Saga' author Stephenie Meyer has spoken to the media. But with the release of 'New Moon' just under a week away, Meyer made the decision to break her silence, but for only one exclusive interview.

So, why the sudden change of heart? According to a recent blog post on her official site, Meyer wrote, "I am so pleased and amazed and thrilled with what Chris Weitz has done with 'New Moon' that I want to talk about it, and to show my support for him."

So who did she choose to sit down with for this exclusive interview? None other than the lovely Oprah Winfrey.

The interview began with clips from an intimate interview Meyer did with 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' producers at the author's home. Then she gave the fans what they were waiting for, as she walked out on stage to sit down for a brief interview with Oprah.

Meyer explained how she was nothing more than a stay at home mom who one night had a dream, literally. "In the dream it was two people in a circular meadow and one of them was a sparkly boy and one was just a girl who was human and normal and the boy was a vampire, which was bizarre," Meyer said. This dream turned into Chapter 13 of ''Twilight.'

Unfortunately there wasn't too much discussion about 'New Moon,' but Meyer did reveal one secret about the book. "There was a different ending to 'New Moon,'" she explained. "Originally it was much quieter [and took place] in Bella's head."

Meyer's mother, Candy Morgan, urged her to change it because it was too boring, which resulted in introducing the Volturi much earlier than planned. So was she happy about the changes made? "That whole scene at the end is king of my favorite part now," Meyer said.

The interview wouldn't have been complete without the mention of 'Twilight' heartthrob Robert Pattinson: "Rob is hilarious. He is the funniest person. He's not at all like the Edward character. He's so different. He just doesn't look like anyone else, in a good way. He's very striking looking."

Staying true to her giving nature, Oprah skyped in with Missouri's Bolivar Middle School to discuss how 'The Twilight Saga' changed their lives. Their school library has a waiting list of 1,000 kids eager to get their hands on the book set. It looks like they won't be waiting any more -- they'll be receiving 600 copies of the entire four book-set.

What did all you Twi-hards think about the interview? Was it too short and not as intimate as you would have liked? She's been silent for a year, don't you think she should have told us what she's been up too?
