'Fireproof' Filmmakers Line Up for Faith-Based 'Courageous'

The producers behind the successful faith-based films 'Fireproof' and 'Facing the Giants' have announced their next project, 'Courageous,' which will start production next March in Albany, N.Y.

Produced by Sherwood Pictures, the film will focus on four fathers, all friends involved in law enforcement, who re-think their paternal roles after jointly experiencing a tragedy.

Producers will include senior pastor Michael Catt, executive pastor Jim McBride, and ministers Stephen and Alex Kendrick, all of whom previously collaborated on 'Fireproof' and 'Facing the Giants.'

Like those two prior efforts, the upcoming film will be marketed through a network of churches and faith-based organizations.

So far, both of Sherwood's films have been highly profitable.

Released in 2006 and shot for the very modest sum of $100,000, and focused on a floundering high-school football coach who rights his own ship after re-affirming his faith, 'Facing the Giants' grossed $10.2 million at the box office. And debuting in September, 2008, 'Fireproof' -- shot for $500,000 and staring Kirk Cameron and Erin Bethea as a troubled married couple working through their differences -- took in an impressive $33.5 million in U.S. ticket sales.
