The forthcoming musical 'Nine' features a world-class array of beautiful and talented women, including globe-spanning Oscar-winners Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, and Sophia Loren. But in the movie's new trailer, they all take a back seat as the spotlight shines on Hollywood's most unexpected new singing and dancing sensation, Kate Hudson.Over the past decade, Hudson has made a career of light romantic comedy fare, films that demanded little more of her than to be feisty and adorable. In 'Nine,' however, she's called upon to be slinky and sexy, as well as to sing and dance. Judging by this trailer, which is little more than a Kate Hudson music video with an all-star cast of extras, she delivers.
'Nine' is, of course, based on the Tony-winning Broadway musical, based in turn on Federico Fellini's '8 1/2,' the greatest autobiographical midlife crisis movie ever made. In the new film, the protagonist is an Italian film director named Guido (Daniel Day-Lewis), who is lucky enough to endure his midlife crisis surrounded by beautiful women in lingerie and spangly gowns.
One of those sirens is a young American fashion reporter named Stephanie, played by Hudson. In this trailer, she sings of her fondness for "Cinema Italiano" in general, and for "Guido, Guido, Guido" in particular, all while kicking and shimmying.
What is the source of Hudson's previously unrevealed singing and dancing talents? Could it be her family? Mom Goldie Hawn had a musical theater background before she became a movie star, her dad Bill Hudson is a pop singer, her stepdad Kurt Russell played Elvis, and her ex-husband Chris Robinson is a rock star.
'Nine' is directed by Rob Marshall ('Chicago'). It opens Dec. 18 in New York and Los Angeles and Dec. 25 nationwide.

Kate should stick to her acting, I guess there isent enough acting roles for her today with her light comedy....and cuteness......So when that happens they try to reach out into other fields..as Kate is doing in NINE.singing and dancing..Next she will be recording records....Do you guys and fans all notice lately a big switch in who there dating, All the female movie stars are going out with, or married to male Athlets......they used to marry actors,[kept it in the family so to speak] But lately the last 10 years, I noticed most all the actress's are after the athlets, and so is KATE...thats where the millions are...

In my opionion, Kate Hudson does an EXCELLENT job of singing and dancing in "Nine"! She sings much better than some professional so called "singers." She is also a fantaastic actress. If she had wanted to "cash in" on her Mom's fame, she would have used Hawn's maiden name. As for her needing to "buy boobs," for those ignoramuses who said that, she had a BEAUTIFUL body, just the way it is! You stupid guys, breast implants are STILL dangerous, LOOK FAKE, and turn rock hard after a while. Why don't you just take a couple of rocks to bed with you to get your jollies off?

How can anybody at all say she can't sing? I am beginning to think nobody below a certain age knows what singing actually IS anymore. If it isn't having a voice with character, interpreting a song well, being in tune and being entertaining then what on Earth IS it? Answer please? YOU have to LIKE that person for them to be any good at singing? Give us all a break! I guess there are just a lot of VERY jealous young women out there!
