Jason Lee to Direct Beatles Love Triangle Comedy With Time-Travel Twist

Jason LeeJohn Lennon took us 'Across the Universe' when he was alive; now he's going to be faced with two time travelers in the upcoming Beatles-themed romantic comedy 'Get Back,' which marks the feature directorial debut of 'My Name Is Earl' star Jason Lee.

The plot is a little complicated -- kind of like the title of 'Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.' In 'Get Back,' two music-obsessed friends time-travel back to swinging 1966 London and one gets caught up in a love triangle with Lennon and future wife Yoko Ono, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The report doesn't mention that Lennon, who met Ono in '66, was actually married to first wife Cynthia Lennon until 1968, so that would suggest a foursome.

The Beatles have been a presence on the big screen as of late, most notably in the 2007 musical 'Across the Universe' and 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,' in which the Cox character encounters a faux Beatles group during his trip to India.

More recently, 'Nowhere Boy," directed by Sam Taylor-Wood, just played at the London Film Festival and is set for a Dec. 25 U.K. debut, according to a report in the Hollywood Reporter. The film is a bio focusing on Lennon's childhood with Kristin Scott Thomas starring as Lennon's Aunt Mimi. The Weinstein Co. has U.S. rights.

As for Lee, he's also set to star on TNT's 'Delta Blues,' executive produced by George Clooney. In "Blues,' Lee's character is a Memphis cop who moonlights as an Elvis impersonator.
