Brad Pitt to Fight Aliens in 'Dark Void' Video Game Adaptation

One of the great things about video games is that they allow everyday folks like us to star in our own action blockbusters. But when it comes time to make actual movies, even video game companies turn to someone a little more experienced at saving the world: Brad Pitt.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pitt's Plan B production company has teamed up with Indian film giant Reliance BIG Entertainment to secure the rights to the upcoming sc-fi video game 'Dark Void.' The Capcom release, which will be available on multiple platforms in January, tells the story of a pilot named Will who crashes into the Bermuda Triangle and finds himself shanghaied into an alternate universe where he and a band of ragtag survivors face off against a terrible alien enemy.

Though no official announcement has been made, it is presumed that Pitt is in talks to star in the lead role as Will. If so, it would mark a return for Pitt to the world of science fiction; though he began his career with such cult hits as '12 Monkeys' and 'Cool World,' it has been years since the A-list star filmed a straight-up sci-fi flick. As we've seen in movies such as 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith,' however, Pitt is no slouch in the action department, and the idea of him battling aliens on the big screen must be enough to have even the most jaded Hollywood mogul drooling.

This despite the fact that most video game adaptations to date have run the critical gamut from savaged ('Max Payne') to trashed ('Resident Evil') to brutalized ('Doom'). Still, none of those movies had Pitt or the unique combination of acting chops and monetary backing that he brings with him. And, let's face it, the guy is probably popular enough to turn Minesweeper into a live-action blockbuster.

So fire up your consoles and start your thumb exercises now. Because it's not every day that you get to say you played the same role as Brad Pitt.
