NYC Horror Film Festival Descends Upon Big Apple

Beware! The New York City Horror Film Festival has descended once again upon the doomed souls of the Big Apple, a dark and sinister plague that cannot be stopped by any mere mortal!

This year promises even more gruesome visions from several independent filmmakers, screening at the Tribeca Cinemas all weekend. The Festival enjoyed an opening night bacchanal on Wednesday at downtown venue BLVD, which featured live performances by Hayley Griffiths, Witches in Bikinis and M-16 -- the festivities continue with the opportunity to bear witness to new horror movies such as 'CannibAlien,' 'Wheels of Death,' 'The Shadow Within' and a new 3-D version of F.W. Murnau's silent 1922 classic, 'Nosferatu.'

The New York City Horror Film Festival is the largest and most recognized genre film festival focusing solely on Horror and Science Fiction, founded in 2001 by MooDude Films CEO Michael J. Hein.

The Festival is competitive, featuring 50-60 films each year, with awards given in the following categories: Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Cinematography, Best Special Effects, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay (submitted), Best Screenplay (screened) and Audience Choice.

For more information on the New York City Horror Film Festival and a complete schedule of this weekend's events and screenings, visit the Official Site.
