Sean Connery's Career Resurrected by a Beaver?

Leave it to the beaver -- the one named Bessie Boo -- to prod Sean Connery out of (semi-)retirement and get him to team up with the iconic James Bond theme-song singer Shirley Bassey on a project.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, the 79-year-old Connery voiced the title role in 'Sir Billi,' an animated film years in production opening in 2010. Connery has executive produced the film virtually since the start of the project, created by husband-and-wife team Sascha and Tessa Hartmann.

Bassey will apply her distinctive vocals to the 'Sir Billi' song 'Guardian of the Highlands,' which sounds rather like a moniker for Sir Sean himself.

'Sir Billi' concerns a skateboarding veterinarian living in a remote Scottish village who is known to be something of an eccentric (as opposed to all those well-adjusted skateboarding Scottish veterinarians). The plot revolves around Sir Billi's valiant efforts to help the aforementioned Bessie Boo, who is a most slippery brand of beaver -- a fugitive.

As for whether Connery's vocal work could signal a return to acting before the cameras, fans shouldn't hope for a break in the dam. As Cinematical noted, "Connery was able to literally phone in this performance and head back to the golf course."

Still, 'Sir Billi' marks the first Connery and Bassey pairing since 'Diamonds Are Forever' -- the film and the song, that is -- way back in 1971.
