In a move to reflect the large number of animated films released in 2009, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has revealed that it, too, will increase its best animated feature category from three to five movies when the Golden Globes nominations are announced on Dec. 15.

This move comes shortly after the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences' similar announcement that it will expand this year's Oscar animated movies nominees from three to five as well.

It's about time legendary director Martin Scorsese receives an honoree award.

In this morning's announcement, the HFPA, along with Vera Farmiga, declared that the 'Raging Bull' director will be bestowed with the Cecil B DeMille Award during the January 17 live telecast of The 67th Annual Golden Globes. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association chose Scorsese for his "outstanding contributions to the entertainment field," which include the Golden Globe-winning 'The Departed' and 'Gangs of New York.'

Ricky Gervais has been announced as the host for the 67th Annual Golden Globes ceremony, guaranteeing that at least one awards show this season will come with a gag reel.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association noted in their press release that the British comedic actor will be the first person to host the show since 1995. Since then, the annual awards show has utilized rotating presenters in lieu of one central host.
