Vampire Movies Going the Rom-Com Route, Thanks to Amy Heckerling

It's official: The craze for all things vampire now extends to romantic comedy. And it's, like, totally gonna be 'Twilight' meets 'Clueless.'

Amy Heckerling, the director behind 'Fast Times at Ridgmont High' and 'Clueless,' will tackle 'Vamps,' a contemporary tale of two young female bloodsuckers living (well, more or less) it up in New York until each falls in love.

Eva Mendes Admires Nicolas Cage's Owl

Not many co-stars embody the eccentric lifestyle like Nicolas Cage.

"One time I was on set on this last film," Eva Mendes told Moviefone at last week's premiere of her new drama 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans,' co-starring Cage, at AFI Fest in Hollywood.

"I said, 'You know what, it would be so cool to own an owl,'" Mendes says. "He's like, 'I had an owl for a couple years.' He's that guy that had an owl for a couple years. He's the guy who has really interesting taste in music, and film, and literature. He has a castle in the middle of Germany, for God's sake. [He's] just such an interesting artist."

Rumours are swirling Michael Lohan demanded $100, 000 for recorded private conversations between daughter Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina Lohan, and Michael says he'll continue revealing the tapes until Lindsay goes to rehab; plus Disney's 'A Christmas Carol' took the top spot at the weekend box office.

'Christmas Carol' Wins Box Office But 'Precious' Wins the Day

The big-budget animated version of 'A Christmas Carol' made the most money at the box office this weekend, but the low-budget 'Precious' made the biggest statement.

Playing in only 18 theaters in four American cities (New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago), the grim tale about a sexually abused Harlem teenager grossed $1.8 million, for an astonishing per-theater average of about $100,000. It is fair to say that in one weekend, 'Precious' was transformed from a critics' and film festival favorite to an odds-on Best Picture Oscar contender.
